Roasted Jalapeno

Description

Roasted Jalapeños are smoky, tender, and full of bold flavor. Whether blended into sauces, added to tacos, or served whole as a side or topping, they’re a versatile ingredient that adds delicious depth and heat to any dish.


Ingredients

  • 8-10 fresh jalapeños
  • Wooden skewers soaked in water
 

Instructions

  1. Soak the skewers in water for 30 minutes while your grill heats up.
  2. Skewer both ends of the jalapeños so they can be held straight on the grill (see photos in post above).
  3. Heat a grill over medium heat and cook the jalapeños for 5-10 minutes per side, until blistered and browned on the outside.
  4. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then place in a ziplock bag to steam so the skins peel off easily.
  5. Remove the seeds and serve or use in cooking.
  6. Oven Roasted Jalapeno Instructions
  7. Preheat an oven to 425°F.
  8. Place the jalapenos on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and place directly in the oven. Roast for 15-20 minutes, flipping once halfway.
  9. When done, they should be blistered and slightly charred on the outside. If not, put them back into the oven for 5 minutes at a time.
  10. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then place in a ziplock bag to steam so the skins peel off easily.

Notes

  • Roast whole for milder heat or slice for more intense flavor.
  • Easily peel the skin after roasting by steaming in a covered bowl.
  • Use in salsas, soups, dips, or on sandwiches and burgers.
  • Can be roasted in the oven, on a grill, or directly over a gas flame.
